About those historical markers...

You may have encountered some of the historical markers that have been placed around town over the past few years. The intent is to help passers-by learn about the places that are significant in our local history.

The historical markers project is a joint effort of the historical society and civic group Action2000 (A2K).

Currently there are 12 signs, some celebrating historical places that still exist, and, sadly, some are sites that contain only memories of landmarks from the past.  Click here for a map showing the locations.

Check out the A2K website for more information on the markers, as well as a suggested "Bike Tour" for those who may want to visit all the signs. (This is different from the cellphone Historic Walking Tour of the downtown area.)
